Shishu, Kishor & Tarun Explained
PMMY loans are broadly split into three categories based on the stage and funding requirement of the business, subject to scheme guidelines in force.
Shishu
For very early-stage or smaller funding requirements, typically for businesses just starting out or needing modest working capital.
Kishor
For businesses that already have some operational history and need a moderately higher funding amount for expansion or working capital.
Tarun
For more established micro/small businesses looking for a higher loan amount closer to the scheme's upper limit, subject to eligibility.
Eligible Businesses
Small manufacturing units, traders, shopkeepers, service providers and micro-enterprises in the non-farm income-generating sector may be eligible.
Purpose
Funds are generally intended for business purposes such as working capital, equipment purchase or business expansion, not personal use.
Lender Channels
Mudra loans are offered through various banks, NBFCs and MFIs empanelled under the scheme, each with its own process.
